Rebuilding Young Living's e-commerce and distributor back office: about 1,000% over the legacy system's maximum capacity.

The original business problem
Young Living's distributors manage their businesses through the Virtual Office. Young Living asked for three phases of improvements: a new look and feel for the Virtual Office, full e-commerce, and a new backend, integrated with its legacy systems and delivered within its required timeline.
Our approach
A core team analyzed the legacy system first; architects worked directly with Young Living's team to approve the direction. Then SolutionStream scaled up and worked onsite, with a dedicated business analyst, project manager, senior architects, dedicated QA engineers working alongside Young Living's QA group, and a UI/UX designer.
What we built
- A new Virtual Office built from the ground up on .NET, AngularJS and NHibernate over Oracle, integrated with legacy systems and JD Edwards
- Full e-commerce for distributors and customers
- A second team built an iOS and Android kiosk app for on-site sales at corporate events (Cordova, AngularJS, Ionic) on the same back end
What it changed
Per Young Living's former VP of IT:
- About 1,000% over the legacy system's maximum capacity
- More than 48,000 orders per day
- An average of 75 million page views and 2.3 million unique users per month in 2017
